Flea Market season = Game Over! Continue?

Well, not that you can’t find any flea market till next spring/summer, but the big outdoor flea markets have come and gone here in Europe. A busy period every year again for everyone with a retro heart, cause where do you find the biggest hauls at the lowest prices? Although it must be said that you better arrive at 5 o’clock in the morning, with your flash light, to find the best deals. Still, the online markets are flooded with people on the hunt for that one guy who puts up a PAL Mega Man X for just 1 buck, so flea markets haven’t lost all their charm.

My summer was ok this year, although I’ve missed a lot of big flea markets due to a wedding and a lot of other meetups. I’m glad I could finally add an Xbox to the collection and can now start expanding that collection. Other additions were some cheap collector’s editions and some older playstation titles. The highlight was the NES haul 2 weeks ago. Finally I found a (cheap) NES in the wild, surrounded by some boxed games, who doesn’t pick that up for 25 euro? I can now give the loaned NES back to a close friend, which he couldn’t let go completely. It’s so difficult to part with something that marked your youth, isn’t it? Still, I’m keeping that boxed Zelda II game on the shelf man! I’ll find a duplicate someday, then I’ll give yours back ;).

I’ll get back to the online markets now… I mean, continue browsing the online markets. A boxed Xbox is underway and some duplicates are being sold online. Retro collecting never stops, but after a busy flea market season, it’s time to build up the budget again!

What will you do now flea market season is over? Take a break till next spring?
We love to hear your stories and best pickups of the summer.
